This is the main software we will use will be Scratch. Be sure to try to log in and click around to make sure everything will work fine.


Weekly Breakdowns

Week 1: September 4th

Main Objectives:

  • Get used to the software, classroom, and each other!

  • Understand the goals of the class

  • Start understanding what game design is

Week 2: September 11th

Main Objectives:

  • Breaking down the main components of a video game

  • Designing user-specific images/sounds

  • Flow chart of actions/reactions

Week 3: September 18th

Main Objectives:

  • Playing video games as a designer

  • Code debugging

  • What does it mean to optimize

Week 4: September 25th

Main Objectives:

  • Custom work on students projects

Week 5: October 2nd

Main Objectives:

  • Finishing touches

  • How to package a game for another user

Week 6: October 9th

Main Objectives:

  • Finishing touches

  • Showcase

  • (Game Designer Interview - in the works)


Class Breakdowns

Class will be Saturdays at 10AM Central to 12pm

(9am-11am Eastern)

Class will be focused on concepts all can use. Outside of the class, there will be assignments/work for the students to work on in their own time.

Typical workload ends up being 1 hour to 2 hours per week. We will have more resources for students that want to dive deeper into the concepts.
